With a temperate climate and an abundance of sunshine, getting outdoors and keeping active is part of a Eurobodalla lifestyle; there are no long drives through traffic here for that beach walk or splash in the ocean.
Eurobodalla’s residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to sport and recreation. Our Shire is bursting with active sporting clubs covering a broad and diverse range of activities for all ages and skills levels; from the major codes such as AFL, rugby league, soccer, hockey, basketball, netball and cricket, through to archery, rock climbing, BMX, and sailing.
The region hosts numerous sporting events such as the George Bass Surfboat and Ski Marathon, the Batemans Bay Paddle Challenge, the Narooma Forest Rally, Batemans Bay Open (tennis), Moruya Golf Club Winter Classic, Capital Coast Ultimate Triathlon Festival and the Moruya Races.
With 83 beaches, 16 lakes and numerous rivers, water sports and recreation forms a key part of the Eurobodalla lifestyle. Swimming, surfing, snorkelling, jet skiing, sailing and paddle boarding are popular, and you won’t find many homes without a kayak lurking somewhere. For a bigger adrenalin rush, Eurobodalla offers world class skydiving, sensational mountain biking, scuba diving with sharks and seals, and of course world class game-fishing. Our Shires Surf Life Saving Clubs also offer a great way into sport and recreation, with well-run Nipper’s programmes for kids.
Council actively advocates for local sport, recreation and special interest groups in Eurobodalla. This is seen in developments such as Batemans Bay’s new aquatic centre, Corrigan’s Reserve Inclusive Playground and something outside of the Bay area.
