Eurobodalla means ‘land of many waters’ in the local Brinja Yuin dialect, and it’s easy to see why. With 83 beaches, 16 lakes and numerous rivers sitting at the base of mountain wilderness, the area has immense natural beauty. Combined with our location as the nearest seaside point to the nation’s capital, and a growing reputation for authenticity of food and experiences, Eurobodalla is a tourist mecca.
Tourism is our largest industry, and the nature and scope of our tourism based businesses and ventures is broad, innovative and exciting. Both Council and the Business and Tourism Chambers are focused on promoting tourism and the visitor experience, and council has several dedicated tourism and events officers.
There are immense business opportunities in tourism in Eurobodalla Shire. Not only is the region an aquatic playground, our geography includes forests, caves, mountains and wild places. We have modern thriving towns, heritage listed villages, lush dairy country, and quirky hidden places. This diversity makes us ideal for ventures ranging from 5-star hotels to glamping tents, from hatted restaurants to funky food carts. Our tourism marketplace is far from saturated. There are new markets and niche markets waiting to be catered to. Innovative quality tourism businesses thrive in our region and enjoy strong support from locals as well as visitors.
Direct flights from Asia to Canberra, and a commitment by Council and the local Business and Tourism Chambers to boost visitation in the area, heralds an exciting new time for tourism in our Shire.
